We’re delighted to share that Optalert’s Owl Eye product was featured on 7NEWS!

The 7NEWS feature highlighted how we developed the app, the clinical research behind it, and how Owl Eye is paving the way for accessible sleep health technology for all Australians.

In the news segment, key experts described how Owl Eye worked:

  • Paul Zubrinich (CMO, Optalert) detailed how impairment can be identified through eyelid movements (i.e., blinks).
  • Dr. Trefor Morgan (GM R&D, Optalert) noted this simple 10-minute test can identify whether the user has a low risk or high risk of sleep issues.
  • Prof. Matthew Kiernan (CEO, Neuroscience Research Australia) outlined how eyelid movements provide useful insight into the deeper workings of the brain, which can help identify neurocognitive impairment.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us on bringing this amazing technology to life, especially the Monash Medical Centre, the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and the Institute for Breathing and Sleep (IBAS), who collected clinical data.

The 7NEWS coverage was a meaningful opportunity to share the benefits of Owl Eye, highlight our progress at Optalert, and reaffirm our commitment to creating a lasting positive impact through innovative medical technology.

Download the Owl Eye app for free on the Apple App Store.
