Interview with Air Liquide
Air Liquide – the world’s leader in gas for industry, health and the environment has been a user of Optalert since September 2007. Currently 47 drivers and 25 vehicles are fitted with the Optalert system, with a further 5 vehicles and 8 operators from Air Liquide WA using Optalert since December 2008.
Optalert conducted a brief interview with Mark Robinson the National Distribution & Asset Manager Air Liquide Australia Limited
Optalert: Why did Air Liquide Australia adopt the Optalert Vehicle System in its vehicles?
Mark Robinson: Air Liquide follows the legislative guidelines as to how long a driver can drive in France, being 10 hours. Head office of Air Liquide in France would allow drivers in Australia to drive and work to longer hours if a fatigue management tool was used to mitigate the risk. Optalert was the best solution for the organisation.
O: What do you like about the Optalert system?
MR: Once a driver starts to get drowsy it generates a reaction and increases alertness afterwards. You can see this in the reports.
O: Is Optalert used by all of your drivers?
MR: Contracts are being renewed at the moment and Optalert’s use is part of those contracts.
O: How do you see web reporting being useful for Air Liquide?
MR: My understanding is that we will not have to wait and run reports, but instead will be sent customised reports
